When you use Firefox browser to access to a website, you might occasionally come across a small picture next to the website’s name. The little picture is known as favicon.

The purpose of the favicon is to get attention for your blog or website. The favicon can be any picture.

In Firefox browser, the favicon can appear at the URL and also at the tab.

Also if you bookmark a website in Firefox browser, the favicon is also displayed there. The purpose is to catch the eye of the reader so that they might access your blog more frequently

You can use a plugin to install the favicon. You can get the plugin here.

The primary attraction of this kind of site, is that anyone can post a question, hoping that others will see their question and answer it. Or

the reverse: anyone can post an “answer” (an explanation of a topic), hoping that others will come to read their “wisdom”. So if you use these sites correctly, they really can, bring you direct traffic plus high page rank backlinks.

Some leading examples:

Answer questions in your niche at WikiAnswers. Enter your URL as “To answer with a web link, click here instead” link. Find a page on your topic “edit” that page and include your anchor text at Wikipedia. Answer questions in your niche at Yahoo Answers. Put your URL in ”Source”.

Answer questions in your niche at Yedda. Put your AT in the body of the answer.

Take your time and find some relevant questions, there is no point in just dropping your targeted anchor text anywhere. This just decreases the relevancy of your site. This is a great way to build a link, but it also stays there and attracts attention for many months to come. How often do you see a yahoo answers qustion that matche the criteria of someones search come up in google search? Often, that is the answer. So it is not just that one person that you are informing. You are leaving a trail that can be trace and read by many many more.

The power of research sites can not be denied and is one of my top-SEO-tips of the day!

You can improve your blog’s ranking in Search Engine by using Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) plugin for WordPress blog.

My favourite SEO Plugin is the All In One SEO Pack .

You can get it here.

All in One SEO plugin

Configuring Home Page Options

All In One helps the optimization of your blog in two ways:-

1)By allowing you to configure the individual meta tags of each post that you write

2)By allowing you to configure the meta data of your blog’s home page.

The first thing you need to do once the plugin is installed is to go to Settings >> All In One SEO Pack and configure the home page options.

SEO02a Free All in One SEO Plugin

Page Title

Here you simply enter the Page title, and description you’d like to appear if your home page was found in the search engine listings. You might be trying to make your blog home page rank for a very general keyword, in which case you want that keyword to be in the blog title preferably as the first word. You also want another part of your blog title to be an interesting clickable statement about your content.

Blog Description

Your blog description should simply explain in 20-40 words what your site is about again including your main keyword just once and being interesting and appealing to a reader of that niche.

After your meta tags are set, you’ll find some other important options at the bottom of the All in One SEO Options. These are:

Use Categories for META keywords:

I leave this box Unticked, as I like to insert my own keywords for each post and don’t necessarily want the category name to be one of them.

Use noindex for Categories:

This is vital for your site’s SEO. Ticking this box adds some code to your category index page so that it doesn’t get indexed by the search engines. Why is that good? Because your category pages contain snippets of your posts that already exist at other places in your site. Using Noindex on these pages means that only one version of your post content will be indexed and you can avoid duplicate content penalties.

Use noindex for Archives:

This is the same as above but for your archive pages. I keep this ticked too.

Use noindex for Tag Archives:

And also tick this for the same reason as above

After this you can hit Update Options and have the settings for the home page of your blog all configured.

New Post

The main benefit of All In One is that when you click to write a new post, and scroll down below the post content, you’ll see a field where you can enter the Title, Description And Keywords for each post you write.

This allows you to completely control all of the meta tags for each piece of content you make through wordpress – a feature that’s not available in WP by default.

This part must be done with each post you write and fortunately is easy to do. How you should fill in each field looks like:

Title:

This is easiest. All you need to do here is copy the blog title you should have already written for the post above, and paste it into the Title field. Easy.

Description:

Your meta description for the post only needs to be 20-40 words containing the main keyword you’re trying to target. As it will be the description that appears when this post gets found in the search engines, it should also be interesting and appealing to anyone who finds it in the Search Engine so they’ll click on it.

Keywords

Keywords that are related to your posting

Cheers. Hope this posting helps you.

This is a most relevant question to be asking with respect to Firepow 2.0 now that it has been launched.

We all know how important it is in any business enterprise to keep our customers satisfied. How many times have we heard the old saw: If it wasn’t for customers there would be no business? Yet, as a management consultant, I’m continually coming across people who just don’t seem to ‘get’ that if it weren’t for the customer, they wouldn’t have a job.

And now, in these difficult economic times the contemporary customer is even more demanding of quality service; so much so that business leaders should be thinking of delighting customers—not merely satisfying them.

In the cyber world, where body language is not an option, if we are to show that we have a genuine desire to provide customer-delighting service, we have only the written word to do so.

It has to be said that the Firepow Ver. 1 management didn’t ‘top the pops’ in this arena. In my experience since being a member of Firepow, I’ve seen many forum posts unanswered or answered inadequately. Similarly with the Support desk, I’ve experienced delays of days in receiving answers to questions, which to me, were absolutely critical to my work.

But to be fair, there has been a continual improvement in this area and my instinct is that the administration team has really picked up on this aspect of management. So I’m reasonably confident that this negative aspect of the old Firepow will soon be a thing of the past in the new program.
